Clear View Skins Application Instructions.
Please read all of the instructions before you begin the installation.
Do not apply water directly to your device.
Water is only used to make an application solution that activates the adhesive on the back of skin, so that it can be positioned correctly on the device.
The alignment of the skin on the device during the installation is one of the most important aspects of getting the skin to look "perfect" on your device. Align the skin to the center as much as possible. If the skin has cutouts for controls or connections, align the skin to the top of the device first, the sides next and the bottom last.
1. Turn your device off and remove any removable batteries. Wash your hands. Clean your device to remove any smudges or fingerprints.
2. Identify the protective skin pieces while they are still on the backing and determine where they are to be applied to your device.
3. In a shallow dish, mix a few drops of a mild liquid soap with about 10 ounces of water to make the skin application solution. Let the solution sit for about 10-15 minutes before using it to allow the suds and any tiny air bubbles to dissipate.
Tip: Keeping your finger tips wet when handling the skins will prevent your fingers from sticking to the adhesive and leaving finger prints on the under side of the skin.
4. Wet your fingers with the application solution and remove the section of skin that you are applying to the device from the backing. Submerge the skin in the solution to wet the adhesive side thoroughly. Don’t lose track of which side of the skin was stuck to the liner. This is the side that will adhere to the device. For larger skins like the iPad you may find that putting the application solution in a spray bottle and spraying the adhesive side of the skin is a good alternative to ‘dipping’ the skin into the application solution.
5. Lightly shake the excess application solution from the skin. The skin doesn’t need to be dripping wet; a thin layer of the solution works the best.
6. Place the skin on the device and move it into position. The skin should slide freely on the surface of your device at this point. If it doesn’t try adding a little more soap to the application solution and re-wetting the skin.
7. Start pressing the application solution out from under the skin with your fingers being careful not to move the skin. Use a credit card (or something similar) to squeegee the rest of the solution and bubbles out from under the skin.
If you are unhappy with the placement of the skin or if you see bubbles, you are unable to remove, this is the time to remove the skin and return to step 1. After the adhesive on the skin has time to set up you will not be able to remove the skin without damaging it.
8. Some devices have corners that are a little difficult to get skin to stick to, so if you come across this, squeegee out any excess moisture then roll your palm over the skin until the skin is covering the corner, and stay in that position for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Make sure you apply a slight amount of pressure during this process in order to keep the skin down and help the adhesive to activate. This process might need to be repeated once or twice, but it will definitely help on any difficult areas!
Tip: If you need to remove the skin after making contact with the device. Dry the surface of the device and go back to step 3. This will help prevent trapping any tiny air bubbles that might have formed in the application solution when the wet skin was removed from the device.
We recommend waiting 12-24 hours before you turn your device back on after installing the Clear View Skin. This wait time allows the adhesive on the skin to "set up" properly. Also, since the application solution wets on the skin during the installation process, this wait time allows the skin and electronic device enough time to dry properly.
